La información histórica
El templo fue construido en los siglos XI y XII, cuando el hinduismo estaba en su apogeo.
Arquitectura
Gauri Shankar es famosa por sus exquisitas tallas. El templo todavía está en funcionamiento hoy. Debido al reducido aforo, la mayor parte de las ceremonias religiosas masivas se celebran al aire libre. Para ello se ha instalado una enorme tienda de campaña. En su interior sólo cabe el altar. La estructura es un ejemplo de edificio de lujo. Sobre el arco de la entrada hay una imagen de la Trimurti. Frente a la entrada hay una escultura del toro Nandi que custodia el templo. Para llegar al patio, hay que caminar por una estrecha escalera de mármol.

Como llegar
Gauri Shankar se encuentra cerca del pueblo de Naggar. Está a 30 kilómetros del principal centro turístico de Manali. Recomendamos llegar hasta aquí en autobuses turísticos especiales.
